An online order can transmit a prescription accurately and still miss information about how the frame sits on the face. Lens positioning depends on measurements and stable fit, and some designs need more than a single total PD. The problem is not simply where the order is placed; it is whether the complete measurement, fitting and follow-up process exists for the particular product.

Ordering glasses involves both lens powers and placing the lenses correctly in a suitable frame. The College of Optometrists highlights measurement and fit concerns in online purchases, especially for progressives. Its cited research is older and does not score every present-day seller.

Before entering your details

Our order checklist asks whether the prescription is current, whether every sign and axis has been copied correctly, and who will obtain the required measurements. Ask the seller to explain unclear fields. Do not fill an unknown value with an average simply to complete checkout.

Ask who handles adjustments

Find out how the frame will be fitted after delivery, how a suspected prescription or measurement problem is assessed, and who pays for any remake or shipping. Keep the exact lens specification and service terms in writing before ordering.

Check the delivered pair

Use familiar everyday tasks to describe the result: a distant sign, your screen and your usual reading material. If something remains wrong, contact the supplier with a specific account and arrange an appropriate eye-care review. A low price does not resolve an unresolved fitting problem.

A worked example

Before payment, ask who checks the frame fit, how required heights or monocular measurements are obtained, and who handles unresolved blur. Write down the remake and return conditions, including whether fitted prescription lenses are covered. A low initial price is not a complete comparison if a missing local fitting service must later be purchased separately.
